McCain and “Daddy Yankee” — strange bedfellows

In one of the more unusual press conferences of the election season, Sen. John McCain was endorsed Monday by Latin music star “Daddy Yankee.”

“Daddy Yankee,” aka Ramon Ayala, praised McCain’s stance on immigration.

Ayala became a megastar in the world of Reggaeton with his 2004 hit “Gasolina.” Reggaeton is a mix of hip hop and Latin dance music such as salsa and merengue.

McCain mentioned the song at the presser. He may not have realized that it uses gasoline as a metaphor for sex. For example, the song says, “a ella le gusta la gasolina” or “she likes the gasoline” and “dame mas gasolina” or “give me more gasoline.”

The music video leaves little doubt to the meaning behind the song. It features scantily clad women gyrating, fast cars, police in riot gear, and “Daddy Yankee” carrying a night stick.

Latinos / Hispanics will be Follies to vote Republicans, This is the Republican draft by the GOP for their convention.

“It’s certainly a vast improvement over the 2004 document,” Devine, vice chairman of the advocacy group based in Alexandria, Virginia, said.

The document states opposition to any plan that would provide amnesty for people in the country illegally. “The rule of law suffers if government policies encourage or reward illegal activity,” it says.

Split on Immigration

That’s a tougher line than the 2004 text, which called for a humane'' immigration system with a temporary worker program and a path for illegal immigrantsto come out of the shadows” and apply for citizenship. The language four years ago mirrored President George W. Bush’s goals for revamping U.S. immigration laws.

The 2004 platform also reflects the position of Arizona Senator McCain, who co-sponsored legislation last year that would have overhauled the immigration system and offered an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants a path to citizenship while tightening the border with Mexico and creating a guest- worker program. He has since said the U.S. must secure its borders before changing the system. “

How exactly will he change the system if the same republicans that opposed the first immigration reform bill will filibuster it again ?

“He has since said the U.S. must secure its borders before changing the system.

The first immigration reform bill happened over 20 years ago. What happened to the rules instigated then? I’m puzzled that people think no one remembers the promises, now it’s 12-20 million. No Way Jose!

It’s always nice to see John McCain supporting abstinence based education in the high schools. This is certainly an excellent example of his good judgment.

Oh, by the way, his appearance seems illegal under Arizona Revised Statute 15-511. “Use of school district or charter school resources or employees to influence elections; prohibition; civil penalty; definition, A. A person acting on behalf of a school district or a person who aids another person acting on behalf of a school district shall not use school district or charter school personnel, equipment, materials, buildings or other resources for the purpose of influencing the outcomes of elections.”

FLORIDA is a lock in for Manchurian McCain. You can count on the Cuban-American vote in S. FL and the military in the panhandle as well as the triangle of tampa, orlando, and gainesville for that!!!

Viva McCain

Show me a piece of federal legislation that was based on the party platform (DEMS or REPS). Those documents are printed every 4 years and lay dormant until the next convention. The candidate has his own agenda. And McCain will work to fix the broken immigration system that his fellow senators and representatives did not have the b…..s to fix for fear of losing their personal election.
