Elder Bush Is All Thumbs

BlackBerry addicts take heart: at age 82, former President George H.W. Bush is joining you.

Speaking alongside former President Bill Clinton at the wireless industry’s annual show in Orlando, Fla., Bush described his growing passion for what some call the “CrackBerry.”

“I’m what you might call a black belt wireless e-mailer,” he told the packed hall of technology buffs and industry executives.

Bush said that when he and Barbara attend Houston Astros games and sit behind home plate, he e-mails to friends from around the country who see him on TV.

“I e-mail back and tell them, ‘Okay, I’m going to wave to you after the next strike.’ And so it’s a fun thing and I wave,” he said.

Answering the audience’s laughter, he said: “Wait until you get to be 83, you’ll do the same kind of stuff.” Bush turns 83 in June.
