Manhunt 2 gets real on Wii
By Steve Pounds | Wednesday, October 3, 2007, 11:45 AM
Manhunt 2, the controversial videogame from Rockstar, is on sale now for Nintendo’s Wii game system and Sony’s PlayStation 2.
It apparently takes legal gaming in the virtual world a step further by giving the player the ability to make stabbing and other klling motions with Wii’s smart controller:
A story in USA Today questioned whether the game was a good fit with family-friendly Nintendo. But a spokesman for Nintendo told Joystiq.com that if parents are concerned about it, they can use the PIN-operated Parental Control features built into Wii. In other words, the game’s going to be a big seller.
I’ve watched friends, and my son, play video games, and many are already pretty violent. Even though they’re only pushing buttons, they’re slashing at the air, aiming a virtual gun or making some sort of motion with the controller as they play. Is this any worse?
The real question is whether this capability will lead to even more reality in lethal games like Manhunt. I’m curious to hear what some hardcore gamers think.

Manhunt 2 is not a game for kids. It’s obvious, so kids shouldn’t play it. I, however, am not a kid, so I, as an adult, should be able to play it uncensored with no questions asked. I’m personally fed up with stupid parenting organizations and governments trying to ban this game because some parents are unable to properly supervise their children.
If you are a legal adult with no serious mental problems and has a firm understanding of the difference between fantasy and reality, then playing this game will not result in any negative behavior. This should be obvious, yet people are too stupid to realize that censoring content for adults is beyong ludicrous.

Just because the Wii has a nice family feel to it doesn’t mean that there can’t be a game like Manhunt 2 available. It seems hard time to manage a child’s access to harder content but who said having a child was going to be easy? I want a variety of games and I’m not worried about how you raise your children.
The Wii also has the capability to browse the internet and watch videos on the internet. I doubt they have parent filters on that browser so without parent supervision that kid friendly Wii has access to all the REAL violence and porn on the net.
